Chorale La Porte Rouge
Through a collaboration between myself and Coop La Porte Rouge, Amateur and Actor choral groups were developed. With the assistance of the Elspeth McConnell Internship Award through Concordia University, I was granted the ability to compose arrangements, teach vocal technique, and lead two different levels of students through a 12 week choir session. Both courses were taught in French.
The amateur choir or Chorale pour tous/toutes, was open to any singer who had the desire to learn. Some students had expereince with music theory/sight-reading, while the majority were looking at sheet music for the first time.
The actor’s chorus was designed with artists in mind. Most students were Coop members and themselves were theatre artists in Montreal. The difficulty of the arrangements was slightly augmented and the exercises were based more on my actor training.
